Premiers jours a Londres / First Days in London

Voici quelques photos des jours avant mon depart et des photos de mes premiers jours a Londres / Here are a few pictures from the days before my departure and my first days in London:

La maison d'Alex a Londres. Il s'agit de la maison ou vivait la dame qui a invente le guide A-Z, qui est la carte la plus utilisee de Londres / Alex's house. It is the house where the lady who invented the London A-Z Guide lived. The A-Z guide is the most used map of London.

Nous avons trouve un apartement! Erin, Mat et moi allons vivre dans un apartement tres petit, mais charmant, dans le quartier Lambeth. Ce quartier est situe entre les parcs de Clapham et de Battersea, et je peux marcher au parlement (je n'ai pas encore fait le trajet, mais j'estime que ca me prendrait environ 40-50 minutes). L'apartement se situe sur le dernier etage d'une maison et est dans un quartier residentiel, avec deux epiceries au coin de la rue. Nous devons attendre jusqu'a au moins mercredi avant d'emmenager, pour que l'apartement puisse etre nettoyer et qu'une fenetre soit reparee (elle etait dangereuse car elle pouvait tomber vraiment vite, et quelqu'un pourrait se faire mal aux doigts). Il s'agit d'un apartement avec trois chambres a coucher: deux grandes chambres et une petite chambre. Nous allons alterner qui dort dans la petite chambre de sorte que lorsque quelqu'un recoit un visiteur, que cette personne puisse dormir dans une grande chambre. Nous avons aussi une laveuse secheuse, un grand frigidaire, un micro-ondes, et un four avec deux fourneaux. Nous avons aussi un balcon tres mignon, avec vue sur les toits des autres maisons du quartier, a la Marry Poppins! Les autres Canadiens et Anglais ont aussi trouver une maison, et nous pouvons nous rendre chez eux en prenant un seul autobus, ce qui est tres pratique. Ce soir nous allons a un pub et demain, nous allons soit marcher dans le centre-ville de Londres ou visiter un musee.

We found an apartment! Erin, Mat and I will live in a very small, but charming apartment in Lamberth. Lamberth is between Clapham and Battersea parks, and is about 40-50 minute walk to parliament (although I did not walk it myself yet) and a 20 minute bus ride. The apartment is on the top floor of a house in a nice residential neighbourhood, with two grocerie stores around the corner. We have to wait until at least Wednesday to move in, because the apartment has to be cleaned and a window fixed. It is a 3 bedroom apartment, with two large bedroom and a smaller one. We will alternate who stays in the small one so that when one of us has a visitor over, he or she can have a bigger room. We also have a washer/dryer, a big fridge, a microwave, and an over with two compartments. We also a very special balcony, with a view over other houses' roof-tops, like in Marry Poppins! The other Canadians and Brits have also found a house, and we can get to their place by taking only one bus, which is very convenient. Tonight we are going to a pub and tomorrow, depending on the whether, we'll either walk around downtown London or visit a Museum.
